In 2022, the Norfolk General Hospital has made a New Year’s Resolution to bring the Labour and Delivery Unit back to the area.
In September, the decision was made to temporarily transition obstetrical care to the Brant Community Health Care System due in part to a nursing shortage.
Officials say it’s the goal and expectation that Labour and Delivery services will return to N-G-H in 2022.
At this present time, the hospital is actively recruiting an obstetrician-gynecologist.
When there are official moves in place to bring back this unit, an update will be provided to the public.
This will be the first year that the hospital will not be able to announce their “First Baby Of The New Year” as the unit is no longer operating.
