After receiving the results of their governance training, Norfolk County Council took the time to discuss the findings at a recent meeting.
Councillor Kim Huffman pulled the issue to be discussed.
The training, provided by David Bennet Consulting, looked at best practices for conducting an effective meeting, the roles of the chair and a council member, and providing tools and methods on how to deal with conflicts and disputes at meetings.
Lack of previous experience, concern over frequent staff turnover, and a need for a more consistent application of rules of order were brought forward.
Councillor Linda Vandendriessche felt there were things left untouched.
Councillor Amy Martin agreed.
Following this discussion staff was directed to look into the best way to incorporate this report into future meetings. Staff is also to prepare a council effectiveness survey for each councillor to fill out after meetings.
