Big money going to the Salvation Army in Simcoe.
A $60,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilient Communities Fund has been received.
The grant includes funding to hire a temporary full-time Community & Family Services employee on a one-year contract to help manage the increased workload caused by the pandemic.
The Salvation Army will also lead a collaborative information and resource sharing partnership with Norfolk-based food banks and related service providers.
The goal is to create a single point of contact for all area food banks online, which will include hours, contacts, updates on needs, and an internal option to share resources and supplies where possible.
Additional funding was secured for new laptops, project promotion, and professional support.
