We are taking part in “A Day To Listen.”
That is where we highlight indigenous voices in our community to talk about important issues.
We spoke with the Elected Chief Mark Hill from Six Nations Of The Grand River.
He said they are working with the government to search our local resident school and get answers.
He says everyone, regardless of background, should want answers.
Hill, like many others we spoke to, talked about deep sadness when news broke in BC when bodies were discovered at a former Residential School – and more bodies being found across the country – but there wasn’t much shock as the community were aware of these stories for years.
You can hear our full interview with Hill can be heard below where we talk years of being ignored, changes that need to be made to the education system, and Canada Day.
