Concerns were brought to our elected officials about drug use at county-owned parks.
In a letter sent to our elected officials, it speaks of an incident at Simcoe Lion’s Park where a dog ate a substance, which was believed to be drug-related, near the playpark and was rushed to the vet.
The letter says the dog’s life was saved after it was administered naloxone.
The Norfolk County OPP did confirm with us that they were contacted about this incident.
Officers subsequently attended the park and searched the area however did not find any other items relating to this particular occurrence.
In a letter to council, it wonders if there is more action on a county level that can be done to reduce risks to animals and small children.
The letter suggested putting up signs, such as a Neighbourhood Watch, to deter individuals from gathering at this location for this illicit activity.
