An attic fire causes extensive damage to a family home in Walsh.
On Wednesday night, the Norfolk County Fire Department responded to the fire, which started in the chimney of the homes’ wood stove.
A family of 4 escaped the incident without injury.
Estimated damage is $250,000.
The Fire Department says in 2021, Norfolk County has experienced an increase in fires related to wood
stoves.
They are asking residents with wood stoves to make sure any wood-burning appliances are well maintained, used with caution, and inspected annually by a qualified contractor.
