Tom Masschaele will return as Ward 1’s representative on Norfolk County council, according to unofficial election results.
The incumbent defeated challenger Greg D’Hulster to retain the seat representing Port Rowan, St. Williams and the ward’s surrounding rural communities.
During the campaign, Masschaele highlighted the importance of spending time in smaller communities to understand residents’ concerns and ensure they are represented in County decisions.
He pointed to planned growth in Port Rowan as an opportunity for local businesses, while emphasizing the infrastructure needed to support it.
Masschaele also called for scrutiny of spending on outside consultants and raised concerns about whether a uniform approach to automated garbage collection meets the needs of rural communities.
The results remain unofficial pending confirmation by the Norfolk County Clerk.
