Linda Vandendriessche will return as Ward 2’s representative on Norfolk County council, according to unofficial election results.
The incumbent defeated challenger Debbie Wilbur to retain the seat.
During the campaign, Vandendriessche emphasized expanding Norfolk’s tax base to help address infrastructure costs, identifying opportunities for agribusiness, food processing and manufacturing along the Highway 3 corridor.
She advocated using land already zoned for development while seeking more flexibility for rural severances on land not considered prime farmland.
Vandendriessche also supported working with local businesses and community organizations to strengthen downtowns and opposed closing any of Norfolk’s five arenas.
The results remain unofficial pending confirmation by the Norfolk County Clerk.
