Norfolk County’s updated parking bylaw is now in effect, bringing existing regulations together into one document and clarifying parking rules across the municipality.
Approved by Norfolk County Council, the changes took effect October 15 and include revised parking locations, restrictions and regulations, reflecting input from residents, businesses and County staff, along with current operational needs.
The updated bylaw introduces parking restrictions in four newer subdivisions — two in Simcoe and two in Waterford — and updates parking limits, zones and time restrictions throughout the County.
It also removes restrictions from locations where they are no longer needed or where the property is no longer County-owned.
The new rules clarify regulations for on-street parking and municipal lots, including time limits, seasonal restrictions and areas where parking is prohibited.
They also address accessible parking, fire routes and enforcement on private property.
The bylaw consolidates several older regulations into one document, organized into five schedules covering on-street parking, municipal lots, fire routes and private property enforcement, accessible parking signage, and paid parking rates and permits.
Norfolk County says there are no changes to paid parking rates or rules.
New signage will be installed, and residents are encouraged to follow posted signs and review the updated regulations at norfolkcounty.ca/Parking.
