A night of country line dancing in Simcoe will help bring hope to children and families in Tanzania.
Tumaini Children’s Foundation will host its Country Line Dancing Fundraiser Friday, October 23 at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 79 on West Street.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. Local instructor Colleen Byers will lead lessons for all skill levels, while the evening will also include games, draws and a cash bar.
Tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting Tumaini’s work in Tanzania.
The foundation was started in 2009 by Simcoe’s Cherie Tiffin-Szucs and has since supported more than 1,800 children through education, health care and community programs.
Its name comes from the Swahili word “Tumaini,” meaning “hope.”
Executive Director Leslie Butler says the fundraiser is a chance to have some fun while making a difference.
“We want to create a community event that brings people together for a night of high energy fun while supporting resilient young people and families living in Tanzania.”
Tickets can be purchased in advance by e-transfer to donate@tumainimeanshope.org or at the door.
