Two people have been charged in connection with an ongoing sudden death investigation in Simcoe.
The Norfolk County OPP says officers were called to a property on Queen Street North on September 6th after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual.
The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be a drug overdose.
Following the investigation, two people were taken into custody last Tuesday (September 29) and charged with trafficking in a Schedule I substance — opioid other than heroin — contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Hannah Brochu, 19, of Oxford County, is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on December 22, 2026.
Thomas MacLeod, 22, of Haldimand County, is scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe on November 10, 2026.
The investigation remains ongoing.
