Mark Stephens, pharmacist co-owner of Roulston’s Pharmacy Group in Southwestern Ontario, has been named Pharmacist of the Year by the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA).
Stephens has been with Roulston’s for more than 35 years, joining the business as a student intern in 1991 before beginning his career as a practicing pharmacist in 1993, following his graduation from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
The OPA recognizes Stephens as a skilled and caring pharmacist who has built strong relationships with patients and colleagues, while also sharing his knowledge and experience by mentoring young professionals entering the field.
In addition to his work in patient care, Stephens has played a significant role in the growth and development of Roulston’s Pharmacy Group. With an interest in business development and collaboration with other health professionals, he has led several of the company’s expansions, including the Wellness Centre and Roulston’s Delhi, which incorporate space for medical professionals.
Stephens has received several other recognitions throughout his career, including the OPA Collaborative Service Award in 2016, the Simcoe Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Award in 2017, the Norfolk County Community Development Economic Excellence and Prosperity Award in 2023, and the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from Rotary International in 2024.
Stephens says he is extremely honoured to receive the Pharmacist of the Year Award and expressed his gratitude to his family, including Kim and Cam, for their unwavering love and support.
He also recognized the Roulston’s Pharmacy team for its ongoing commitment to the company’s vision and its work to make a difference in patient care.
