Norfolk County voters will get their first chance to hear directly from municipal election candidates as debate season gets underway in Port Rowan today, Tuesday, September 15.
The Long Point Country Chamber of Commerce is hosting an All Candidates Night at the Port Rowan Community Centre, bringing together candidates running for mayor, Ward 1 council and school board trustee.
The event is designed to help residents learn more about the people hoping to represent them before they cast their ballots in the October municipal election.
Ward 1 voters will hear from mayoral candidates, as well as council candidates Tom Masschaele and Greg D’Hulster. Candidates running for Ward 1 school board trustee will also be part of the evening.
Candidates will answer questions submitted by people living in the community, giving voters an opportunity to hear where they stand on local issues and priorities.
Organizers are encouraging residents to come out, listen to the discussion and learn more about their choices before heading to the polls.
Doors at the Port Rowan Community Centre open at 6 p.m., with the discussion getting underway at 7 p.m.
The Port Rowan event is the first of several candidate debates and meetings planned across Norfolk County ahead of the municipal election on Monday, October 26.
