The Long Point Ducks Unlimited Committee is getting ready for one of its biggest nights of the year — with a new boat up for grabs.
The committee’s annual men’s dinner takes place September 18 at the Long Point Community Centre, featuring dinner, raffles, a silent auction and other fundraising activities.
Immediate Past Chair Paul Van Londersele says the local chapter has some serious history behind it.
The dinner can accommodate about 250 people and is already close to selling out. Combined with a separate ladies’ dinner in October, roughly 500 people support the organization through the two events.
This year’s big draw is a 14-foot Crestliner boat, supported by Proctor Marine in Simcoe. Van Londersele says it’s perfect for duck hunting or fishing.
Boat raffle tickets are $20 each or three for $50, with only 1,500 printed. Tickets are available at Proctor Marine in Simcoe and Lily Mart in St. Williams.
The winning ticket will be drawn September 18 at the dinner, but the winner does not need to be there.
