Hydro One crews continue to restore power after severe thunderstorms caused widespread damage across Norfolk County and other parts of Ontario.
The storm moved through Wednesday, bringing strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Thousands of customers were left without electricity, while broken poles, downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment were reported.
Hydro One said Thursday afternoon that crews remain on the ground working through repairs. Restoration efforts are being prioritized to return power to the greatest number of customers as quickly as possible.
The utility cautioned that estimated restoration times may change once crews reach an outage and determine the extent of the damage.
Residents who encounter a downed power line are being reminded to stay at least 10 metres away and report it to both 911 and Hydro One.
Anyone using a generator during an outage should keep it outdoors and away from windows and vents to reduce the risk of carbon monoxide exposure.
