The capes are coming out again in Brantford as Lansdowne Children’s Centre gets ready for its 8th annual Heroes Walk and Roll.
The fundraiser returns to Brant Park on Saturday, September 26, bringing families, businesses and community groups together to support infants, children and youth with communication, physical and developmental needs.
This year, admission and registration will be “pay what you can,” helping make the event more accessible to Lansdowne families and the wider community.
The hero-themed day will feature accessible games, activities, entertainment and interactive attractions for children and youth of all ages and abilities.
Lansdowne Director of Development and Community Relations Lynda Henriksen said the event is about more than raising money.
“Heroes Walk and Roll is more than a fundraiser. It’s a celebration of courage, inclusion, and community,” Henriksen said.
Money raised supports several Lansdowne programs and resources, including its Resource Library, Equipment Loan Program and Every Kid Counts program.
Through Every Kid Counts, children and youth who require additional assistance can receive a support worker at no cost to their family, helping them take part in community day camps and recreation programs in Brantford-Brant.
Lansdowne CEO Rita-Marie Hadley said the program helps remove barriers and creates more opportunities for children to participate in their community.
Community members can support the campaign by registering, walking or rolling, fundraising, donating or becoming a sponsor.
