A summer tradition aimed at helping local students start the school year with access to healthy food is returning later this month.
The All Hands on Deck Food Drive will take place Thursday, August 27, with 98.9 myFM and 99.7 WOW FM teaming up with the Child Nutrition Network and local businesses yet again.
That was General Manager Alan Duthie.
The Child Nutrition Network supports student nutrition programs in schools across Haldimand and Norfolk, providing healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks to local students.
The need for those programs has become increasingly important in recent years.
People taking part in the food drive can make a monetary donation or purchase items from a shopping list provided by organizers.
The list is designed to make it easy for shoppers to pick up appropriate items while doing their regular grocery shopping.
Duthie the participating stores have even developed friendly competitions to see who can raise the most money, with some businesses beginning fundraising efforts ahead of the event itself.
