Port Dover is preparing for one of its biggest summer weekends as the Port Dover Summer Festival returns this weekend.
The festival, commonly known as Art in the Park, has been attracting thousands of visitors to the community during the third weekend of August for more than 40 years.
This year’s festival takes place Saturday and Sunday with events and activities spread throughout downtown Port Dover.
Art in the Park at Powell Park will feature a collection of juried artists and craftspeople, with many returning vendors joined by new artists showcasing a variety of handmade goods.
The festival will also feature entertainment and live music in Powell Park, along with antique vendors returning to their traditional location on Market Street.
The Pre-Loved Book Sale is another popular part of the weekend, offering visitors the chance to browse a large selection of books and magazines.
Downtown businesses will also take part with the festival’s Sidewalk Sale, which runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Shops will bring displays outside and portions of the downtown will become more pedestrian-friendly as visitors browse the sales.
There will also be plenty of food options throughout Port Dover, with restaurants and other eateries located around the park, harbourfront and beach.
Organizers say the festival’s long-running success would not be possible without the support of local businesses, sponsors and volunteers.
The Port Dover Summer Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
