A transport truck driver suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash near Vanessa early Wednesday morning.
Norfolk OPP, along with Norfolk County Fire and Paramedic Services, responded shortly before 5 a.m. to Brantford Road
That was OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk who added the transport truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree, and that the driver was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Hamilton hospital.
The crash also knocked out hydro service in the area after the truck damaged utility infrastructure. Hydro One crews spent several hours working to restore power.
Police said about 200 litres of diesel fuel spilled onto a nearby property. The Ministry of the Environment was notified and cleanup efforts continued while investigators examined the scene.
Brantford Road remained closed for several hours between Norfolk County Road 19 and Windham Road 3 as the Norfolk OPP investigated the cause of the collision.
Sergeant Sanchuk expressed the OPP’s appreciation for those who assisted at the scene..
Police have not released the driver’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
