The Simcoe Kinsmen Club says the community is helping bring a new splash pad one step closer to reality, thanks to another major donation.
The Simcoe and District Optimist Club has contributed $17,500 toward the Kinsmen’s $80,000 fundraising goal for the reconstruction of the Simcoe Splash Pad. The Optimists also supported the original splash pad project when it was built in 2006.
Kinsmen President Alex Frank thanked Optimist President Ken Gilpin and club member Paul Maletta, who helped bring the two service clubs together to make the donation possible. Frank said the strong relationship between local community groups continues to make a real difference.
The campaign has also received support from many individuals, organizations and community groups. The Norfolk Community Foundation has played an important role by allowing charitable tax receipts to be issued for donations.
Bottle and can donations have also become a key part of the fundraising effort, adding thousands of dollars to the campaign.
The Kinsmen say fundraising will continue until the goal is reached and are encouraging residents to donate or keep recycling containers coming in to help rebuild the popular community splash pad.
