The second annual Basstoberfest is inviting anglers of all experience levels to enjoy a day of bass fishing, conservation and community at Conestoga Lake before celebrating with an awards banquet at the Alpine Club in Kitchener.
The fun fishing tournament runs September 12th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Conestoga Lake, followed by a catered schnitzel dinner, prizes, raffles and awards for the top three teams. Anglers from all over Ontario are invited to attend.
Chair Paul Kroisenbrunner says its the perfect for bass fishing.
He stressed the event is designed for everyone, not just experienced tournament anglers.
Because the organizers are committed to conservation, all bass must be released alive after weigh-in.
Kroisenbrunner said last year’s participants praised the event and many have already signed up again. “This was so much fun and excellent organization,” one returning angler told him after the inaugural tournament.
With room for a maximum of 40 boats, first prize is $2,000.
Kroisenbrunner said “You’re pretty well fishing for free because we’re giving you so much back,” pointing to the included dinner, T-shirt, raffle tickets and grab bag.
