Residents across Norfolk County are being reminded that seasonal watering restrictions remain in effect in urban areas until September 15, 2026, as the municipality works to conserve water during the busy summer season.
The restrictions are outlined in Norfolk County’s Watering Restrictions By-law and apply to outdoor water use between May 15 and September 15 each year.
Under the rules, residents and businesses may only water lawns, gardens and other outdoor areas between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Properties must also follow an odd-even watering schedule based on their civic address. Homes and businesses with even-numbered addresses can water on even-numbered calendar days, while odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered days. For example, a property with the address number 210 may only water on even-numbered days of the month.
Norfolk County notes that newly installed sod is exempt from the restrictions during the first 24 hours after installation.
Officials encourage residents to follow the regulations to help manage water demand and ensure a reliable water supply throughout the summer months.
