Canadian country music star George Canyon is getting ready to bring a mix of his biggest hits and classic country favourites to the Norfolk Pro Rodeo when he takes the stage on Friday, July 17.
The award-winning singer, who has released 12 albums and earned multiple Juno, Canadian Country Music Association and East Coast Music awards, said performing at a rodeo always has a unique feel.
Canyon said fans coming to the Norfolk Pro Rodeo can expect an authentic show with plenty of familiar music and a relaxed atmosphere.
Away from touring, Canyon has been enjoying time with his family at a lake in northern Manitoba, where he has been writing songs, painting and preparing to release new music after taking a step back from recording in recent years.
He said a conversation with his brother-in-law encouraged him to start sharing new songs again because fans still want to hear what he’s creating.
Despite a career spanning more than three decades, Canyon said the excitement of performing has never faded.
The Norfolk Pro Rodeo returns with three days of rodeo action, featuring bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, roping and family entertainment. Canyon’s Friday night concert is one of the marquee events of this year’s rodeo, giving fans a chance to enjoy both professional rodeo competition and live Canadian country music in one evening.
