The Norfolk Pro Rodeo is back this weekend, bringing three days of professional rodeo action, live country music and family-friendly entertainment to Norfolk County.
The event is once again part of the Rawhide Rodeo Tour, where professional competitors earn points throughout the season in hopes of qualifying for the tour finals in January. Fans can catch three full rodeo performances on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Each performance features fan favourites including bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, roping and pole bending, along with surprise specialty acts such as trick roping.
Organizer Krista Timmermans said the event has become more than just a rodeo for her family.
Families will find even more to enjoy this year. Saturday and Sunday include a Kids Rodeo before each performance, giving children the chance to try obstacle courses and experience the arena before the professionals compete. Halftime activities will also invite young fans onto the grounds for more interactive fun.
Timmermans said Sunday is especially geared toward families.
Beyond the rodeo itself, visitors can spend the day exploring about 10 food trucks, shopping from Western wear and craft vendors, enjoying live music, and visiting the Kids Zone with inflatables and corn bins, all included with admission.
The entertainment continues after the rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights with major country concerts. George Canyon headlines Friday evening, while Aaron Pritchett takes the stage Saturday night. Headliners are expected to begin around 9 p.m., depending on when the rodeo wraps up.
Saturday is already approaching a sellout despite additional seating being added this year. Timmermans encourages visitors to arrive early to avoid delays and enjoy everything the event has to offer.
Advance tickets are also recommended, as they cost less than buying at the gate and help speed up entry.
