United Way Golden Horseshoe has announced the volunteer leaders who will guide its inaugural 2026-2027 fundraising campaign, with long-time volunteer Marc Hamel serving as Campaign Cabinet Chair and Brittani Verhaeghe representing Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk as Regional Campaign Chair.
Hamel, an Associate Portfolio Manager with Manulife Wealth, succeeds Carrie Fletcher after years of leadership with United Way. He founded the Champions for Change Financial Services Luncheon, served as founding Co-Chair of the Halton Poverty Roundtable, and has been recognized with United Way’s Leading the Way in Philanthropy Award.
“It is an honour to serve as Campaign Cabinet Chair during such an important moment in United Way’s history,” Hamel said. “This campaign is about bringing people together to create opportunities, strengthen neighbourhoods, and ensure support is there when it matters most.”
Verhaeghe, Manager of Customer Experience at TD, will lead local engagement efforts in Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk. Having previously served as a successful United Way Campaign Champion, she will help ensure local priorities remain central to the regional campaign while strengthening volunteer participation.
“Our communities are strongest when people step forward to help one another,” Verhaeghe said. “I’m proud to continue serving Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk and to work alongside volunteers across the region as we build an even stronger future together.”
Other members of the senior volunteer leadership team include:
- Anna Iacobelli – Major Giving Cabinet Chair
- Allie Hughes – Niagara Regional Campaign Chair
- Nancy Francis, Christine Harrington, Heather MacDonald, and Becky Sciliberto – Women United Co-Chairs
United Way Golden Horseshoe President and CEO Brad Park said the leadership team brings deep community roots and will help strengthen partnerships, engage new supporters, and ensure local programs and services continue meeting growing community needs across Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Halton, Hamilton, and Niagara.
