Norfolk County Council has approved its 2026-27 investment plan to support housing stability and homelessness prevention services across Norfolk and Haldimand.
As the provincial service manager for both counties, Norfolk County will oversee the funding, which helps residents stay housed, find stable housing, and access support if they are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The County’s 2026 budget includes $3,959,300 for these programs. Of that total, $3.61 million comes from the province, while $349,000 is funded through the shared municipal levy.
The funding will be divided between emergency solutions ($1.13 million), community outreach and supports ($1.06 million), housing assistance ($659,400), supportive housing ($580,535), and administration ($529,515). More than 55 per cent of the funding will go toward emergency services and community outreach.
County officials said provincial funding has remained unchanged since 2023-24 despite rising demand and increasing operating costs.
General Manager of Emergency and Social Services Angela McMillan said the County is committed to using the funding responsibly and transparently to help residents in need.
Residents experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their housing can contact Haldimand and Norfolk Housing and Social Services for assistance.
