Two Norfolk County residents are facing charges after separate intimate partner violence investigations by the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police.
The first incident happened on June 22 at around 11:39 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an assault at a home in Norfolk County.
Police say an altercation took place inside the residence, where one person allegedly assaulted and threatened another, temporarily prevented them from leaving the home, and interfered with the use of their personal property. The victim suffered minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with two counts of spousal assault, assault by choking, suffocating or strangling, uttering threats, forcible confinement, and mischief for interfering with the lawful use of property. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe.
In a separate investigation, officers responded to another reported assault on June 25 at approximately 1:35 a.m. Police say one person allegedly assaulted another, causing moderate injuries.
A second 30-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm involving an intimate partner and failing to comply with a probation order. That accused also remains in custody pending a bail hearing in Simcoe.
