The Long Point Biosphere Region is expanding opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with nature thanks to a $96,400 Seed grant from the Ontario government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Local MPP Bobbi Ann Brady met with representatives from the Long Point Biosphere Region, Birds Canada, and Long Point Basin Land Trust on Wednesday to celebrate the funding and learn more about the new regional initiative.
The project brings the three organizations together to expand nature-based programming and strengthen conservation efforts across Norfolk County. Plans include coordinated educational programs, shared training for staff and volunteers, community outreach, and the creation of a long-term sustainability plan.
Brady said the collaboration is a win for people who value nature, adding that organizations with shared goals are stronger when they work together.
Executive Director Janet Dassinger said combining the expertise of the three founding organizations will create more opportunities for residents and visitors to explore the region’s biodiversity while encouraging conservation.
The Long Point Biosphere Region says the partnership will help build stronger connections between people, local ecosystems, and the natural environment for years to come.
