Last week, longtime Community Engagement Officer Constable Patti Cote retired after 26 years of service.
Community Engagement Officers handle media relations, deliver safety programs in schools, and support community engagement across Haldimand County.
As she gave her final 10-7 sign-off, Cote was surprised to hear the voice of her daughter, Mia, over the radio.
After an emotional pause, Cote keyed her microphone and expressed her gratitude.
The OPP thanked Cote for her dedicated service, noting she previously served with the Norfolk and Oxford County detachments before spending nearly three years in Haldimand.
She then shared one final message with her colleagues and the community.
Everyone here at the Norfolk Today newsroom joins in wishing Constable Cote a happy and well-deserved retirement.
Provincial Constable Tyler Loney assumed the Community Engagement Officer role on June 8 and will be joined in September by Provincial Constable Jarrett Shallhorn.
The Haldimand OPP says Loney and Shallhorn will continue building strong community partnerships while promoting public safety.
