Provincial police are investigating after a Pride flag was removed from a property and set on fire in Norwich Township earlier this week.
The Ontario Provincial Police Oxford Detachment says officers were notified of the incident on June 2. Investigators determined that at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 1, two individuals attended a property on Jerdon Street in Norwich, removed a rainbow Pride flag from a flagpole, and lit it on fire.
Police describe both suspects as appearing to be in their late teens or early twenties. One individual is described as having an average build and wearing dark pants along with a dark-coloured hoodie pulled over their head. The second suspect is also described as having an average build and was reportedly wearing a dark-coloured T-shirt, light-coloured pants, and a head covering.
The OPP says the investigation remains ongoing and is seeking assistance from the public in identifying those responsible.
Police are reminding residents that theft and vandalism are criminal offences and can result in criminal charges.
