Two Norfolk County residents are facing charges following separate intimate partner violence investigations over the weekend.
Norfolk County OPP say officers first responded to a report of an assault at a Norfolk County address on Friday at approximately 11:53 p.m. Police say the investigation determined two individuals were involved in an interaction inside a residence, during which one individual allegedly assaulted the other and damaged property belonging to the victim. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocating or strangling, along with mischief related to damaging property. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
In a separate incident, officers responded to another reported assault at a different Norfolk County address on Saturday at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Police say the investigation found two individuals were involved in an interaction inside a residence where one person allegedly assaulted the other, resulting in minor injuries.
A 74-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with assault – spousal. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
The OPP says intimate partner violence investigations remain a priority and reminded residents that support services are available for those experiencing abuse or violence.
