The Norfolk County Agricultural Society is getting ready to welcome the community back for the Second Annual Great Garage Sale at the Fairgrounds in Simcoe.
General Manager Angela Hogeveen says the idea began as a simple clean-out of storage areas at the fairgrounds, but it quickly grew once organizers realized just how much interest the community had in the concept.
That enthusiasm helped transform the event into a full-scale indoor and outdoor marketplace.
While yard and garage sales are common throughout the spring and summer, not every home is located on a busy street with steady foot traffic or passing vehicles. With so many people doing spring cleaning, Hogeveen says the Great Garage Sale offers a chance to put items out where they’re guaranteed to be seen.
This year, the Agricultural Society is expanding both its inventory and its planning capacity. Alongside the many community tables, Hogeveen says the Society will also be putting out a large selection of its own items.
Admission is free, and organizers say the event has become a great way to highlight how quickly items can find a second life when they’re given the chance.
Hogeveen adds that proceeds from the sale directly support the Agricultural Society’s educational programs and community initiatives, reinforcing their broader goal of strengthening agricultural awareness and local engagement.
