The Grand River Conservation Authority and the Grand River Conservation Foundation are launching a new fundraising campaign aimed at supporting local trails and natural spaces while promoting mental wellness.
The “Trails to Wellness” campaign, announced during Mental Health Awareness Month, is seeking to raise $50,000 to help maintain trails and conservation lands throughout the Grand River watershed.
Organizers say the campaign highlights the important connection between access to nature and mental health, noting that outdoor spaces provide opportunities for people to walk, reflect, recharge, and stay connected with their communities.
The GRCA maintains a network of trails and natural areas that are free for public use, but officials say trail maintenance relies heavily on donations because there is no dedicated revenue source supporting the work.
Funds raised through the campaign will go toward projects including trail surface repairs, vegetation management, debris removal, and the maintenance of bridges, boardwalks, and crossings.
The campaign comes as many organizations across the region mark Mental Health Awareness Month through events and initiatives focused on well-being and community connection.
More information about the Trails to Wellness campaign, including donation details, is available through the GRCA website.
