A Mother’s Day fundraiser is helping strengthen hospice care across the region, even as organizers wait on final numbers.
The Blooms for a Cause campaign, led by Norfolk-Haldimand Community Hospice in partnership with Six Nations Community Hospice, recently wrapped up pre-orders, with plant pickup set for May 9.
Executive Director Andrea Binkle says the collaboration marks an important step forward.
The fundraiser gives residents a chance to purchase flowers just ahead of Mother’s Day. If you missed the pre-order, limited extras will be available at the pickup locations at Porter Lumber in Port Dover and Arena Track in Ohsweken on May 9.
Beyond the fundraiser itself, Binkle says the partnership reflects a shared goal of expanding hospice care in the community.
Both organizations are currently preparing to build hospice residence facilities, while already offering in-home and community-based supports such as grief counselling, workshops and one-on-one care.
Binkle said fundraiser like these support these existing programs and services.
The flower fundraiser has become a meaningful way for many residents to celebrate and remember loved ones ahead of Mother’s Day in Haldimand, Norfolk and Six Nations.
