A Norfolk County resident is facing charges following a theft investigation involving multiple vehicles in Simcoe.
Norfolk County OPP say officers were first called to a Victoria Street address on Friday, May 1 at approximately 2:49 p.m. after receiving a report of an attempted vehicle theft.
Police say the investigation determined an individual attended the property during the overnight hours and attempted to gain access to a vehicle. Although officers say entry was not successfully made in that case, investigators later discovered additional vehicles in the surrounding area had allegedly been targeted.
According to police, wallets and vehicle documents were stolen from several vehicles during the incidents.
The following morning, on Saturday, May 2, officers located a suspect at a Homewood Avenue address in Simcoe and made an arrest without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Brandon Moreau of Norfolk County has been charged with theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle and disobeying a court order.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on June 16, 2026.
Norfolk OPP are also reminding residents to take precautions to help prevent vehicle-related thefts by locking vehicles, removing valuables, and reporting suspicious activity to police as soon as possible.
