Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police are continuing to investigate a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred near Wilsonville late last week. Emergency crews, including paramedics and fire services, were called to the scene at the intersection of Old Highway 24 and Norfolk County Road 19 East on Friday, April 24, shortly after noon.
Police say the collision involved a sport utility vehicle and a sedan. A passenger in the sedan, identified as a 56-year-old Norfolk County resident, was transported to hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the SUV was not hurt.
The area remained closed for several hours as officers conducted their investigation, with detours in place along Old Highway 24 and Norfolk County Road 19 East. Roads have since reopened to traffic.
Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting with the investigation. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage or other information, to contact the Norfolk County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
