A popular community fundraiser with a volunteer-powered team effort behind the scenes is returning to Norfolk County next week.
The annual Smile Cookie campaign at Tim Hortons runs from April 27 to May 3, with all proceeds from five local locations going to the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
Executive Director Sarah Muntz-Flowerday says the goal is to help fund a new echocardiogram machine.
The campaign has become a strong community effort, with volunteers stepping in to decorate cookies across Simcoe, Port Dover, Waterford, and Delhi locations.
Muntz-Flowerday said the stores are generously giving the proceeds, but it does mean a lot of extra work for them. Residents can contact the foundation to sign up for decorating shifts and help keep the momentum going.
Last year’s campaign raised $80,000, showing the impact of small contributions adding up.
Muntz-Flowerday added that everyone needs a smile, and encourages people to share theirs on social media and tag the foundation to help spread the word. #heartofhealthcare
