An individual is facing multiple charges following an assault investigation in Simcoe, according to the Ontario Provincial Police. Officers were called to a location on Young Street on the evening of April 15 after receiving a report of an incident.
Police say the investigation determined that two individuals were involved in an interaction that escalated, resulting in one person being assaulted. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
A 33-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with several offences, including assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a probation order, disobeying a court order, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe later this month. Police note that the charges have not been proven in court.
