A hot vehicle can be deadly.
This reminder comes from the OPP West Region following the rising temperatures as we get further into spring.
That was Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.
For pet owners, not only could it be fatal for your pet, but it can also result in a charge being laid under the Ontario SPCA Act or the Criminal Code of Canada.
Each year the OPP get a large number of calls from concerned citizens regarding pets left inside unattended vehicles during the warmer months.
Dogs and cats pant to cool themselves, but when surrounded by heat, it’s ineffective.
Sanchuk added that it is not only animals that are at risk.
You never know what could delay you inside the store—a long line, a technical issue, or bumping into an old friend.
That quick two-minute stop can easily turn into ten, and that delay could prove fatal for your pet.
