Norfolk County Roller Derby is celebrating the success of its first-ever Scrimmapalooza event, thanking the community for helping make the day a standout.
Organizers say the event brought together more than 120 roller derby skaters from across Ontario, creating a high-energy showcase of the growing sport. Hosted by the Norfolk Knockouts, the tournament featured a unique format that mixed players into new teams based on skill and position.
The full-day event took place March 28 at the CIBC Auditorium, featuring eight teams competing for medals and individual honours such as MVP and Most Heart. Fans were treated to a fast-paced schedule of action on the track, along with an evening celebration to wrap up the day.
Following the event, organizers expressed their gratitude to skaters, officials, volunteers, sponsors, and fans, saying the strong turnout and support made Scrimmapalooza possible.
They add that the enthusiasm and participation seen throughout the event highlight the continued growth of roller derby in the region and across the province.
Organizers say they hope to build on the momentum and bring similar events back to Norfolk County in the future.
