Norfolk OPP are investigating after utility poles were knocked down and copper stolen in Simcoe earlier this week.
Police say officers responded to a call on March 23rd along 14th Street West, between Park Road and Norfolk Street North. The incident is believed to have happened overnight, with suspects removing copper telecommunications wire and grounding wires from several poles.
The damage left some local residents without phone and internet service while crews worked to complete repairs.
Bell Canada says copper theft continues to be a frequent issue across the country.
Police note similar incidents have been reported elsewhere in Ontario. Earlier this year, Halton Regional Police arrested three people and continue searching for another suspect in connection to a string of similar copper thefts.
Norfolk OPP are asking anyone with information to come forward.
