Older adults in the region now have greater access to free legal help thanks to a new partnership between community legal clinics and funding from the Law Foundation of Ontario.
That was Carrie Sienkowski, a community developer with the Community Legal Clinic – Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk.
The initiative builds on a seniors’ legal program that has been operating in Grey and Bruce counties and will now be extended to our area.
She says one of the good things about the program is it is broad.
This means they can hopefully help a wide scope of people in the area.
Sienkowski counts this as a big win.
While the Community Legal Clinic offers a lot of services, she admits it has been hard fielding calls from seniors and having to send them elsewhere.
Older adults, caregivers, and people working with seniors can call the Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic at 1-866-867-1027 to ask about the program and receive legal advice.
