Norfolk County will once again host Community Days in 2026, though the event will continue in a scaled-back format.
Community Days was first introduced five years ago to help reconnect residents following the COVID-19 pandemic and to showcase the wide range of programs, services, and facilities available throughout the county.
Due to resource limitations in recent years, the County has moved away from the large-scale event model originally used when the initiative launched.
Instead, the 2026 event will feature a variety of smaller, free activities across the community.
Planned programming includes free swims at the Delhi Kinsmen Pool, “Try-It” pickleball sessions, and a free community skate at the Waterford Arena.
Library branches will host family-focused events such as story time sessions and LEGO challenges, while residents can also participate in guided nature walks along county trails.
Several community-led activities will also be part of the event schedule, including the Arbour Dog Race at the Port Dover Harbour Museum and a neighbourhood celebration at the St. Williams ball diamond.
County staff say the revised format keeps the Community Days identity alive while continuing to provide accessible programming for residents.
Looking ahead, Norfolk County plans to transition the initiative in 2027 to align with month-long observances such as Museum Month, Seniors Month, and Parks and Recreation Month, allowing for more opportunities for residents to participate throughout the year.
