Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of a woman from Hagersville Ontario and are asking the public for additional information five years after she was first reported missing.
The Ontario Provincial Police say Amber Ellis, who was 32 at the time, was reported missing on March 8, 2021.
Investigators believe Ellis was last seen sometime in mid-to-late February of that year on Six Nations of the Grand River.
Police say Ellis had been staying at a residence in Six Nations in the days before her disappearance and was also known to frequent Brantford Ontario.
Investigators are now asking for information about a possible confrontation that may have occurred in Brantford’s Eagle Place neighbourhood shortly before Ellis disappeared.
Ellis is described as five-foot-nine with a thin build, long dark hair and brown eyes. Police say she has ties to several communities in the region, including Brantford, Cambridge, Hamilton and Norfolk County.
Authorities say foul play is suspected in her disappearance.
The investigation is being led by the Haldimand County OPP Crime Unit with support from several specialized units, including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Forensic Identification Services.
Both the Brantford Police Service and the Six Nations Police Service assisted during the initial investigation.
The Government of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Ellis’s disappearance.
Police are urging anyone with information about the case to contact investigators or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
