Police are searching for a suspect following an attempted robbery at a business in Simcoe.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police, along with the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit, responded to a report of an attempted robbery at a business on Queensway West on Thursday morning.
Investigators say that shortly after 6:00 a.m., a woman entered the business wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, black and white footwear, and a black face covering.
She was also wearing either a pink toque or a pink hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. Police allege the individual brandished an edged weapon, demanded money from an employee, and attempted to steal merchandise before fleeing the scene on foot when the attempt was unsuccessful.
The suspect, described as a Caucasian female in her mid-to-late 20s with a thin build, was last seen travelling southbound toward North Main Street.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and are encouraging residents and businesses in the area to check their home surveillance or security camera systems for any footage that may assist investigators.
