Residents of all ages are invited to take part in “Boccia Week in Ontario” at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.
The free event, on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., is part of a province-wide initiative encouraging as many people as possible to try boccia during a single week.
Boccia is a precision-based sport similar to bocce or lawn bowling, but it is played from a seated position and can be adapted to meet a wide range of abilities.
Organizers say the goal of the week is to promote inclusion, accessibility, and fun through a sport designed to ensure everyone can participate.
Those unable to attend the Simcoe event are still encouraged to take part by playing boccia independently and sharing a photo on social media using the hashtag #BocciaWeekON for a chance to win a grand prize.
More information about the local event is available on Facebook through Norfolk Boccia.
