Residents across Norfolk County experienced an unusual February thunderstorm last night, complete with lightning and rumbling thunder.
The brief light show was followed by freezing rain that left a layer of ice on roads and walkways by morning.
Municipal crews were out early salting primary routes in an effort to improve travel conditions.
However, officials warn that some secondary and back roads may remain slippery throughout the day.
Sidewalks and pedestrian pathways are also expected to be icy, increasing the risk of slips and falls.
Drivers and residents are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for travel as cleanup efforts continue.
