A 16-year-old Norfolk County resident has been charged in connection with a sudden death in Port Rowan, which has been deemed a homicide, the Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed.
Officers were called to a residence on Front Road on Tuesday, November 4th, at approximately 1:50 p.m., where an infant was found deceased.
Following a thorough investigation led by the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit in collaboration with the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, the teenager was arrested on Wednesday, January 28th, and charged with second-degree murder.
The accused’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and they are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
