Attempted murder charges have been laid following a serious assault investigation in Ohsweken.
Six Nations Police say officers were called to a residence on Bicentennial Trail at approximately 1:12 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 for a reported assault.
Investigators determined that an interaction occurred inside the home involving multiple individuals, during which two people were assaulted.
Police say one of the victims was able to seek help from nearby neighbours and was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
Before officers arrived on scene, witnesses in the area were able to detain the suspect, preventing them from leaving the location.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old from Ohsweken was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault, two counts of breaching probation, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing a peace officer, and strangulation.
To protect the identity of the victims, police have not released the name of the accused.
The individual was held in custody and remanded to a future court date.
