The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad has confirmed that a federal offender previously wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been apprehended.
Police say Sima Doban was located and arrested in Hamilton after being unlawfully at large since December 31.
Doban had been sought for breaching statutory release conditions, prompting a public appeal for information earlier this month.
Doban is serving a two-year and one-day sentence related to several offences, including possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, possession of a prohibited firearm, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Investigators previously noted that Doban was known to frequent both Hamilton and Caledonia, placing him within the local news region.
The Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad thanked members of the public and media for their assistance in the investigation, noting that community tips played a key role in helping locate Doban.
